V Stitch

This is the most basic v-stitch pattern. After the foundation row, it is only using double crochet (dc) stitches. 

Foundation row: chain any even number (i.e. 20 ch)
Row 1: 2 dc in 4^th ch from hook, sk 1 ch. * 2dc in next ch (v-stitch), sk 1 ch *, repeat * to end, dc in last st. ch 2, turn
Row 2: * 2dc in each v-stitch in prior row *. Repeat * to end, dc in last st, ch 2, turn

Repeat row 2 to to desired length.

V Stitch – a variation

This variation adds a chain to the v-stitch which makes the pattern more “open” ie. hole-y.

Foundation row: chain multiples of 3 (i.e. 21 ch)

Row 1: dc in 4^th ch from hook, ch 1, dc in same space, sk 2 ch, *[dc, ch1, dc] (v-stitch) in next stitch, sk 2 ch *. Repeat * to end, dc in last st, ch 2, turn

Row 2: * [dc, ch1, dc] in each (v-stitch) in prior row *. Repeat * to end, dc in last st, ch 2, turn

Repeat row 2 to to desired length.

The extra stitch in the variation makes the project larger. The two samples are the same yarn with both variations. With just a couple of rows you can see the difference in the size of the project.
