Corner to Corner Crochet Technique

This is an advanced beginner technique.

It combines chain, slip and double crochet to form “blocks”.  Instead of working horizontal rows, the project is worked on a diagonal, increasing at the end of each row for half of the project, and then decreasing on the other half to complete a square or rectangle.

Notes....

  • Blocks (Tiles, Pixels)

C2c technique works on the diagonal instead of horizontal rows.

Blocks are created that consist of a chain 3, and 3 dc into the chain 3 space of the prior row.

This block is the pattern repeated throughout the project.

  • Increase

At the end of each row, an additional block is added to increase the size of the project.

This is done by chaining 6.

Note: the position of the project piece with the tail at the center bottom.

  • Create New Block

Working in the chain 6, make 1 dc in each of the last 3 chains.  This will create 1 block – a chain 3, and 3 dc.

Note: the project is “face down” at this point, and your new block is “face up”.   If your project is not in the orientation of this photo. Fix it to match.

  • Connect the Block

Flip the project side up (180 degrees vertically) so the new block is in line with the project.

Slip stitch into the top of the block to the left of the new block, so it is now connected,

Note: The project now has a 90 degree angle from the bottom left. Each side should be strait.

*chain 3 and work 3dc into this 3 chain space. Slip stitch to the top of the next block*  and repeat * to *

At the end of each row you will do an increase (above) chain 6, work 3dc….

Homework for Next Lesson

Work on this project until the bottom width is between 30″ and 36″ inches.  Your finished piece will be a triangle, with both strait sides the same length (30-36″)

This stitch works up quickly once you get the hang of it!

*It is important to have this home complete in order to continue with the next step in the lesson to finish the project.
